Power use to rise 6pc in Bahrain this summer

MANAMA, May 5, 2015

Power consumption will hit 3,350 MW in Bahrain this summer, said Energy Minister Dr Abdulhussain Mirza.

This will be a six per cent rise compared with the 3,152 MW recorded on August 25 last year – the highest on record, he said in a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The total installed capacity of electricity stands at 3,934 MW at 40C and there are plans to expand power generation through the second phase of Al Dur Power plant.

The design and construction will start next year and run until 2019 and finance will be provided by the government or through partnership with the private sector, Dr Mirza added. - TradeArabia News Service
