Bahrain iGA unit 'plays vital role in F1 success'

MANAMA, April 9, 2018

Bahrain's Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) said its Wireless Licensing, Frequency & Monitoring Directorate has played a major role in making the ‘2018 Formula 1 Gulf Air - Bahrain Grand Prix’ event a big success.

The directorate has been providing technical support through the radio communication system department for the Formula 1 event since its launch in 2004, said a senior official.

"The Authority provides its support through an integrated technical team fully equipped with the most up-to-date monitoring devices in order to manage the frequency spectrums for the race from all aspects," explained Hassan Mohamed Hassan, the director of iGA Wireless Licensing, Frequency & Monitoring.

The team, he stated, managed the co-ordination of around 460 frequencies for the communication systems taking part in the race as well as accompanied activities.

Hassan said the Bahrain F1 was one of the most important global events being hosted and organised by the kingdom every year.

"The Authority is indeed proud of taking part in such an event through previous coordination by receiving requests to allocate frequencies and also provide the technical support in the circuit before and during the thrilling race in a smooth mechanism without any obstacles," he stated.

Besides F1, the iGA unit also provides support to key events including the Bahrain International Airshow, WEC Bapco 6 Hours of Bahrain along with other significant events.-TradeArabia News Service
