F1 fever grips Bahrain, set for big race

MANAMA, April 18, 2015

The F1 fever gripped Bahrain yesterday with the start of the much anticipated Gulf Air Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix at Bahrain International Circuit.

Thousands of racing fans witnessed thrilling action both on and off the track as the biggest sporting and entertainment spectacle unfolded in festive atmosphere, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, underlined F1's inspirational role in driving ambition and connecting Bahrain with the international community.

He was speaking as he hosted a gala dinner last night, marking the Grand Prix.

Earlier, the Mercedes pair Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton dazzled under the lights in the desert circuit setting the fastest times.

The German was a mere one-tenth of a second clear of the Briton in the second free practice to raise hopes of another thrilling race tomorrow, starting at 6pm.

Finland's Kimi Raikkonen was third fastest ahead of his Ferrari team-mate German Sebastian Vettel.-TradeArabia News Service
