Hamilton unveils new Mercedes Benz model
Manama, April 7, 2014
Formula One superstar Lewis Hamilton took time out to sign some autographs for fans after unveiling the all-new Mercedes Benz E63 AMG at the Bahrain International Circuit's (BIC) Al Haddad Motors stand yesterday (April 6).
The British driver, who won the FIA World Drivers' Championship in 2008 and is a strong contender this year, surprised onlookers as he appeared unannounced in a golf cart a little early for his scheduled appearance, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
After taking to the stage, Hamilton spoke about his season so far and told the assembled crowds what he thought of the all-new night race at the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
"I think the track looks the best at night," he said.
"It's quite warm now but it gets a lot cooler in the evening and the characteristics of the car change, so it's going to be interesting."
Following his short speech, Hamilton revealed the 2014 Mercedes Benz E63 AMG S 4MATIC, which boasts a 5.5-litre V8 producing 557hp.
He joked: "I have not driven one of these before but I'm sure I will - actually, I'm going to take this one with me, is that ok?"
The E63 is available now from Al Haddad Motors carrying a starting price of BD49,377 ($127,787). - TradeArabia News Service
