GP Batteries Marketing Middle East today launched  the first zero carbon emission electric-powered motor bikes in the Middle East market.

The bikes are manufactured by Vectrix, the US subsidiary of Gold Peak Industries. GP Batteries is the regional subsidiary of Gold Peak Industries, and a joint venture partner with Kingston Holdings.

GP Batteries acquired Vectrix in 2009. GP Batteries will continue to capitalise on opportunities in larger batteries for electric transportation and other applications, said a statement.

Gold Peak Industries is an Asian multinational which owns high quality investments via GP Industries, its major Industrial vehicle, and one of the largest battery manufacturers in the world.

The bikes provide clean, efficient and reliable urban transportation, with low noise. These bikes, widely used by the police forces in US, UK, Hong Kong, Malaysia, were demonstrated to senior officials at the Masdar City Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Police headquarters and leading courier company TNT.

Powered by Lithium ION batteries, the bike eliminates vibration and noise pollution completely. It is also fitted with regenerative breaking system and bidirectional throttle.

Limited moving parts in the vehicle eliminate maintenance totally. The bikes, which come with aerodynamic shape and fresh modern distinctive looks, was a winner of the RO Brady award. The bikes can ride 115 km at 100 km speed with a single charge and the charging time is 2-3 hours.
