ABU DHABI, February 3, 2024
EDGE Group, one of the world’s leading advanced technology and defence groups, has joined hands with L3Harris Technologies, a major EO/IR ((Electro-Optical/Infra-Red) imaging and targeting sensor systems manufacturer, to open its new service centre in Abu Dhabi.
Announcing the launch, EDGE group said the new Wescam Authorized Service Center (WASC) was being set up in collaboration with Earth, an entity of EDGE Group, within its Electro-Optical Centre of Excellence (EOCE), facility in the UAE capital.
Managed and operated by EARTH’s expert, locally-trained UAE nationals, the enhanced 33,000-sq-foot of cleanroom facility, equipped with state of art special test equipment, resources and technology required to service as prime in country for Wescam MXTM-Series EO/IR systems.
These systems are operated by the UAE’s National security, Armed Forces, and other regional customers.
Combined with EDGE’s in-country experience and mission execution readiness, the facility will increase customer operational availability, improve mean time between failures (MTBF), and reduce the maintenance and repair turn-around time.
Omar Al Zaabi, President, Trading & Mission Support Cluster at EDGE, said: "We have reached a significant milestone today. The opening of the WESCAM Authorized Service Center as prime in the UAE further strengthens our synergy with L3Harris to enhance the MRO for defence and national security, both locally and globally."
"The WASC also allows our end-users to take advantage of EARTH’s outstanding facilities and cutting-edge solutions, along with L3Harris’ superior technological, engineering, and logistical servicing capabilities. EARTH WASC is committed to deliver the best solutions to fortify our national security and defence capabilities and those of beyond," stated Al Zaabi.
Earth will operate the facility within EOCE, one of the world’s leading EO/IR imaging and targeting sensor systems service facilities, with L3Harris.
The opening fulfils EDGE’s commitment to form strategic partnerships, as it leverages its position as the regional leader in advanced technologies in the defence sector, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
