Noon closes biggest Yellow Friday

RIYADH, December 1, 2020

noon.com, the homegrown digital marketplace, closed its biggest Yellow Friday Sale to date with a heartfelt message to all of the customers and sellers who helped make it possible.

PIF Tower, the Burj Khalifa, ADGM & Adnoc all turned yellow for noon Noon’s biggest Yellow Friday Sale was live from November 23 until midnight of November 29. Over the course of the week, millions of packages were safely delivered by noon’s army of delivery associates across KSA, the UAE, and Egypt, traveling more than 30 times the circumference of the earth to do so.

Noon created mass excitement for the Yellow Friday Sale with a coordinated light show on the region’s most iconic buildings and a cameo from one of the biggest stars in Bollywood.

Early on November 17, Shah Rukh Khan, the undisputed king of Bollywood, joined the Yellow Friday festivities, sharing a video message encouraging people to ‘shop noon’s Yellow Friday Sale.’ Customers delighted in the message, instantly taking to social media to share it with friends.

As dusk fell across the region, noon's light show began, starting with the iconic Public Investment Fund (PIF) Tower in Saudi Arabia’s capital city. At 365 meters tall, PIF Tower is the tallest building in Riyadh and can be seen for miles.

The sky-scraper glowed noon yellow as the cloudy skies settled, showing its support in noon’s home city of Riyadh. More than 850km away in the UAE, more iconic buildings were turning yellow. Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), Abu Dhabi's International Financial Centre, Adnoc Headquarters and the Burj Khalifa in Dubai all shared noon.com’s Yellow Friday colours and message from 7pm GST into the night.

Hisham Zarka, MD & CTO, noon, said: “We have an important mission at noon - to help local businesses, SMEs, and entrepreneurs sell and deliver their products to a wider audience across the Middle East. Our Yellow Friday Sale was created to amplify this, to allow local businesses to join a global retail event, right here in the region.

“Everything we have done up to and including the Yellow Friday Sale is to ensure our retail partners get exposure to the highest customer traffic, on a seamless platform with an established and trusted logistics and fulfillment network. It has been a crazy week for the entire noon team, with little sleep but a lot of excitement.

“I could not be prouder of what we have achieved or more excited about what is to come.” The never-before-seen coordinated event perfectly illustrates noon’s ambition to turn the Middle East yellow, with incredible deals and offers being safely and swiftly delivered to millions of customers over the course of the week.

Customers also had the chance to win cars, a trip to the Maldives, iPhone 12s, and a luxury one-bedroom Emaar apartment during the sale.

First launched in 2018, noon’s Yellow Friday Sale is the flagship shopping event of the region’s leading digital marketplace. In 2019 noon’s Yellow Friday Sale surpassed all other Friday sales in the region, and 2020 saw the largest sale yet.
