Raytheon lands $1.06bn Qatar air defence contract

MASSACHUSETTS, February 25, 2017

US-based Raytheon, a major defence equipment manufacturer, said has been awarded a $1.06 billion contract by Qatar for an early warning radar system that will be integrated into the country's air and missile defence enterprise.

A technology and innovation leader, the Massachusetts-headquartered Raytheon specialises in defence, civil government and cybersecurity solutions.

The company said this contract is 100 per cent foreign military sales and is the result of a sole-source acquisition.

Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts, is the contracting activity, said the defence company.

Work will be performed at Woburn, Massachusetts, and is expected to be complete by June 30, 2021.

Raytheon Company, which boasts 63,000 employees worldwide, had last year netted $24 billion in sales.
