Batelco, the leading telecom service provider in Bahrain, has entered into a three year partnership with the Bahrain Tennis Federation to sponsor a major tennis league organised by the Bahrain Tennis League Committee.

The Batelco Bahrain Tennis League will feature three categories: the Super League, which is open to tennis players of a high level, the Social League, for members of tennis clubs throughout Bahrain and the Junior League, for entrants under 16 years old.

All nationalities are welcome to participate in the great sporting challenge and the winners will be the players who accumulate the most points in league matches over the six months of the competition, which begins in October, a statement said.

The Super League and Junior League matches will take place at Bahrain Tennis Federation’s courts located at the University of Bahrain, Isa Town, while the Social League matches will be played at club courts throughout Bahrain.

“The sponsorship forms part of our commitment to the community and sports initiatives that aim to encourage everyone, particularly young people, to participate in a variety of sporting challenges,” said Ahmed Al Janahi, Batelco Group general manager Media Relations.

“Being involved in sports helps to foster good relationships as well as being a great way to remain healthy and fit,” he added.

Bahrain Tennis Federation chairman Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa recently met with Batelco officials and received Batelco’s sponsorship cheque.

“We very much appreciate Batelco’s contribution which will revive this league which was once a major fixture on the Bahrain sports calendar,” Sheikh Ahmed said.

“The event will also provide a great opportunity for young tennis players to experience competition and hone their game with a view to winning a place on Bahrain’s National Tennis Team,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
