LG, Dubai Dunes launch 'smart homes'

Dubai, June 2, 2008

Dubai Dunes, a specialised real estate development company, and global and regional digital leader LG Electronics have announced their collaboration to launch an advanced range of fully networked smart homes in Dubai.

Dubai Dunes’ upcoming residential real estate project, Dunes Dahlia and Dunes Lilac, in Jumeirah Village, will combine innovation and design to make all the homes a sensational super convenient living space to be enjoyed and admired.

Dunes Dahlia, with 88 apartments, and Dunes Lilac, with 62 apartments, blend state-of-the-art technology and convenience for their residents. The scheduled completion date for both projects is December 2009.

Dubai Dunes, incorporating the latest LG HomNet and Built-in technology, has created the best features in converged home network technology into these two projects to ensure that the residents can experience a secure and convenient digital lifestyle.

KW Kim, CEO and president of LG Electronics – Middle East, said that the new development highlighted the rapidly increasing prominence of LG HomNet in the Middle East’s real estate industry.

“Since its launch last year, LG HomNet has grown to capture 83 per cent in the Middle East’s networked smart homes business, a growth that has been attributed to the increasing demand from the region’s developers who seek to add value to their projects,” he added.

“Dunes Dahlia and Dunes Lilac are truly projects for tomorrow and will redefine the residential housing market in the region,” explained Javed Ayub, director of Dubai Dunes Real Estate.

“Our core focus is on the Middle East’s dynamic and vibrant real estate sector, and as a result, we develop unique and integrated real estate projects that deliver value for clients and investors.”

All apartments at Dunes Dahlia and Dunes Lilac are fitted with the most modern digital appliances from LG Electronics, which is the number one choice of home owners worldwide.
Residents can control their home equipment such as air conditioning systems, lights, etc. via Internet and WAP mobile. Information such as emergency alerts via SMS are also available as part of this package.

Making video calls to neighbours, visitors, security staff and using other amenities such as club house, clinic, pharmacy etc may also be part of the system where applicable.

Security is an important element in the offering. The integrated Multiple Entrance Accesses System which enables them to see and talk to the visitors at the lobby and front door, also opens doors by utilising digital door locks, Ayub said.

Dunes Dahlia and Dunes Lilac are equipped with a Panic Button that ensures quick connect to security personnel as well as sending automatic SMS to the pre-assigned multiple mobile numbers. This feature is especially suitable for elderly and children for emergency situations.

"Family members can edit various modes / scene settings of their home by themselves and also create, manage and share memos and schedules via mobile phone and Internet. All homes are also ready to receive portal and content services which are going to be available in this region in the near future," he added.

The most convenient feature of the system is the ability to connect to neighbouring shops, community services such as spa, laundry, courier, etc via the Internet. Online maintenance calls and centralised message postings for residents enable effective facility management in Dunes Dahlia and Dunes Lilac, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
