Photojournalism contest planned

Paris, November 25, 2013

A competition to promote and honour photojournalists who take extreme risks to provide real and topical images to the public, is to be held in France next year.

Photojournalists have been invited to sign up and send pictures to the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority and AFP-Services for the Fipcom Fujairah Photojournalism International Contest between January 1 and 31, 2014.

The contest is structured around five categories: news, environment, sport, economy and reportage (five-pictures-set), said a statement.

A jury will pick the winner who will be granted the first Fipcom trophy and a winning prize of 10,000 euros ($13,556) during the awards ceremony, which will be held on March 13, it said.

The winner in each category will be awarded a medal and a Reflex Nikon D800.

All laureates will have the chance to be put on display in Les Docks - Cite de la Mode et du Design (Paris), an open stage for creation, dedicated towards cultural innovation, from March 14 to April 14, 2014. - TradeArabia News Service
