ChatON reaches new subscriber milestone

Samsung Electronics has announced that its global communication service ChatON has now reached a global subscriber milestone of over 100 million users.
A global mobile communication service from Samsung, ChatON has experienced steady growth in India, China and the US and is becoming increasingly popular in Europe and the Middle East, said a company statement.
The service was designed to ensure that users across the globe can communicate in multiple languages – ChatON currently supports 63 languages in major countries of the world.
Launched in October 2011, the service hit the 50 million subscriber mark in May 2013 and doubling that number to 100 million only four months later.
ChatON’s growth can be attributed to the support it offers across international markets and various OS platforms, said Samsung in ist statement.
The service provides a seamless experience where users can access ChatON through PCs, Samsung feature phones, and all the major smartphone operating systems: Android, iOS, Blackberry and Windows Phone.
ChatON’s multi-screen support also allows users to sign-in on up to five different devices using one Samsung account ID. Another key factor in ChatON’s success is that it comes preloaded on most major Galaxy devices – the first of which was the Galaxy S III, it added.
Subsequent device launches include the Galaxy Note II, S 4, Note 3, Gear and Camera.
ChatON was designed in-line with Samsung’s drive to deliver products that meet specific local needs in different markets, said the statement.
In India for example, ChatON has seen exponential growth as the service supports 10 regional dialects, with plans to support 13 dialects by the end of 2013. Additional features such as the Ramadan Anicon have helped boost its popularity in the Middle East, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
