Unicef Lebanon has partnered with Deloitte to launch the 2022 ‘Future Coders’ career programme to benefit young talented men and women. 

 

This programme substantially impacts their employability prospects and provides them with entry to digital careers. Upon programme completion, youth graduates will have passed 10 foundation computer science courses, as well as six Fullstack web development bootcamp courses, in addition to soft skills mentoring. 

 

Supported by Deloitte funding of $100,000 towards this signature programme, Unicef will be delivering the programme in partnership with SE Factory which has been running coding bootcamp programmes to empower low-income youth through digital upskilling. The programme will be delivered in a hybrid environment with both person and online sessions, aiming to accommodate for the current challenges, imposed by the economic crisis and the rise in transportation prices, to allow students from across the country to benefit from the opportunity.

“The hopes of the country rest on youth. Young people are the engine of the economy, and it is of utmost importance to equip them with the skills needed for the jobs of the future. Being forced by this unprecedented crisis to be the sole providers of their families sometimes, we aim at supporting them to access decent income generation opportunities” said Edouard Beigbeder Unicef Representative in Lebanon. 

 

“Our partnership with Deloitte for the 'Future Coders' programme falls within the vision of empowering young people. Our objective is to have youth graduating from this programme as full-stack web developers – a digital skill that support them in finding employment in Lebanon or as remote workers, and ensure they are better equipped to build much needed digital careers,” he explained. 

 

“Through such collaborations between Deloitte and Unicef, Deloitte aims to support youth across the Middle East in employability and digital skills. Coders, web developers, and digital professionals can build excellent careers to benefit them and their communities, and access more employment opportunities, whether they stay in their countries working remotely for companies based abroad, or create startups and social enterprises,” said Rana Ghandour Salhab, Regional People and Purpose Partner, Deloitte Middle East.

'Future Coders' programme falls under the skills building and employability component of Unicef’s youth and adolescents development programme which aims to strengthen young people’s resiliency in the face of deteriorating socio-economic conditions through greater self-reliance, including the opportunity to engage in education and successfully transition from learning to earning and engage positively in community life.-- TradeArabia News Service
