Oracle moves to new office in Amman
AMMAN, March 3, 2016
Oracle, a global computer technology company, has taken occupation of its new offices at King Hussein Business Park (KHBP) in Amman, under the patronage of Majd Shweikeh, Jordan’s Minister for ICT.
The event also marked a celebration of a significant milestone for Oracle, which has been operating in Jordan for more than a decade.
“The fact that Oracle has had a presence in Jordan for ten years and is now committing to further expansion within the Kingdom is best proof that Jordan is an attractive and stimulating environment for investment. The laws and policies governing the investment processes in Jordan are flexible and are keeping up pace with the rapid developments in the world of technology,” said Shweikeh at the opening ceremony.
Shweikeh added that the government is taking further steps to encourage more investment in the technology sector. The most prominent of these decisions includes incentives and exemptions such as the reduction of income tax on the sector to five percent across the Kingdom, the reduction of sales tax on the sector to zero percent and the exemption of taxes and duties on production inputs.
Shweikeh said that the partnership between Oracle and the Jordanian government is characterised by sustainability and has achieved distinct success. She added the involvement of the Ministry of ICT in the launch today reflects the excellent relationship between Jordan and Oracle as a global company.
“This move represents our growing contribution to the development of the ICT sector in Jordan and our support for the Government’s vision of having KHBP as a leading business development location in the Kingdom,” said Abdul Rahman al Thehaiban, Oracle senior vice president, MEA, Central Asia and Turkey.
“Supported by a strong ecosystem of 30+ partners, Oracle has helped top public and private enterprises in Jordan become information-driven.
