Dubai summit to focus on cybersecurity issues

DUBAI, April 25, 2015

Leading IT experts will discuss latest strategies in combatting the most sophisticated weapons used by cybercriminals for launching malicious attacks at the Gulf Information Security Expo & Conference (GISEC) which opens on Sunday (April 26) in Dubai.

More than 5,000 trade visitors from 50 countries are expected to attend the event besides featuring 150 exhibitors, said the event organiser Dubai World Trade Centre.

Mobility & Security for Middle East Governments & Enterprises will have its first dedicated platform through Gulf Enterprise Mobility Exhibition and Conference (GEMEC), it stated.

Starting from day one of the three-day conference, global IT experts will begin unleashing a wide range of cybersecurity solutions aimed at preventing any further attacks perpetrated by cybercriminals from all over the world.

According to a 2014 report released by the Centre of Strategic and International Studies, cybercrime has resulted in approximately $445 billion worth of losses to the global economy every year.

With the continuous onslaught and rise in the incidence of cyberattacks, both public and private organisations are looking everywhere for strategic solutions that can withstand a constantly growing sophistication of cybersecurity breaches.

As a result, a MarketsandMarkets report has predicted that by 2019 the global cybersecurity industry will be worth $155.7 billion, with the Middle East accounting for $9.56 billion.

The third edition of the region’s largest and only IT security knowledge event will witness the convergence of top-notch global experts in Dubai to discuss key issues surrounding cybersecurity management, identity management and disaster recovery amongst individual users and across a variety of business sectors, said the organisers.

Also, as a venue for local, regional and global companies to showcase and learn about proven tactics and world leading IT security technologies, well-known brands and companies such as GBM, BT, Cisco, Spire Solutions, Palo Alto Networks and Paladion, among others, will highlight their latest products and services at the event.-TradeArabia News Service
