STC to join UN-backed broadband commission

The Saudi Telecom (STC) Group is set to join the UN-sponsored Broadband Commission, said its Group CEO for Strategic Operations.

Dr Saad Al-Qahtani received the joint invitation from the Secretary General of the International Telecom, Union (ITU) Hamdoun Toure and the co-president of the commission Irina Bokova, director general of UNESCO.

The invitation came on conjunction with the STC declaration about the number of its subscribers of the broadband services in the Middle East who stressed its pioneering role in providing modern technology.

The broadband commission was established in 2010 by the UN, to develop the infrastructure for broadband services all over the world, and to increase its popularity. – TradeArabia News Service
