Zain to launch WiMAX for businesses

Manama, March 3, 2008

Zain Bahrain will start rolling out its WiMAX services for businesses this month, company broadband director Mahmoud Abu Zannad has said.

The announcement of the launch of Zain@work comes as the company has successfully completed four months of the commercial launch of its Zain@home services.

'We were the first in the world to successfully launch a nationwide WiMAX network for home users and we expect the product for businesses to be as attractive,' he said as the company launched a countrywide promotion to popularise the service.

Abu Zannad said the 2Mbps speed home service has proved to be very attractive for users, who now have an alternative to their residential Internet needs.

'The packages are extremely attractive for which we have received very positive feedback.'

He said the customer response would be incorporated into the new service, which would also retain its unique features to complement a new lifestyle.

'During the next few months, we are also looking at eliminating the BD3 monthly rent for the modem for all our home subscribers and we hope that would make the packaged bundle even more attractive.'

He said a random survey has revealed that customers appreciate the 'value added' services of a home telephone line along with the connection.

'Free calls to all other service subscribers and calls at half rates to Zain mobiles are features which have not been seen before in Bahrain.'

Abu Zannad said the ultimate aim is to create a new community in which one can talk free throughout the subscription period without feeling that he should end the telephone call to save money.

'Zain@home is also nomadic, which means that customers can move address without changing phone numbers,' he said.

'The packages give customers a real technological advantage as well as excellent cost benefits since they can choose a variety of bundled services.'

He said the service has empowered the company to fulfil all the telecommunication needs of customers.

'The WiMAX service is instrumental in our aim to offer both business and residential customers the capability to work and play whenever and wherever they wish. This is fast becoming a prerequisite of our modern lifestyles.'

He said the company is showing itself to be a pacesetter in enabling customers to benefit from those technologies with the greatest potential to supply on-demand sophisticated communication solutions.-TradeArabia News Service
