Few of the winners of The Maritime Standard Awards at last year's event

Shipping industry leaders set for Dubai show

DUBAI, June 2, 2015

Top decision makers of the shipping and maritime industries from across the Middle East and Indian subcontinent will be in Dubai, UAE, to attend The Maritime Standard Awards (TMS Awards) 2015, a high-profile annual awards gala dinner, which recognises the achievements of the industry’s best performers.

The 2015 TMS Awards will be held on November 9, at the Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai, UAE.  

The event will be held under the patronage of Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airline and Group.

A total of 24 awards will be presented with over 800 of the industry’s elites expected to attend the event, said a statement from TMS.

A host of leading companies from the region’s shipping and maritime and related industries have already confirmed their attendance, with the Federal Transport Authority – Land and Maritime granting endorsement to the event, it added.

The event has received support from industry giants including Abu Dhabi Ports; Adnatco and NGSCO; ADP Marine Services; Clarkson’s Platou; DP World; DNV GL; Dubai Trading Agency (DTA); Gulf Energy Maritime PJSC; Islamic P&I Club; Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC); Mercmarine Group of Companies; Milaha; Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (NKOM); Oman Shipping Company S.A.O.C; Samsara Group; Sical Logistics; Sohar Ports and Emirates Classification Society (Tasneef).

The awards also has the support of regional trade associations from The Baltic and International Maritime Council (Bimco); UAE Shipping Association (Uaesa); Dubai Shipping Agents Association (DSAA); Organisation of the Islamic Ship-owners Association (Oisa) and Dubai Council for Marine and Maritime Industries (DCMMI), said the organisers.

Trevor Pereira, managing director of TMS, said: “The event aims to acknowledge and celebrate some of the most influential companies and individuals in the shipping and maritime sectors within the region.”

“Apart from the established list of awards successfully presented last year, there will be two new categories for ‘Ship Manager of the Year’ and ‘Corporate Social Responsibility of the Year’,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
