Alba .... 2015's Q 1 sales reached 228,307 metric tonnes

Alba’s sales, production up

MANAMA, April 5, 2015

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), a leading aluminium smelter in the world, was able to increase its overall sales and throughput, despite the downward-trend in aluminium London Metal Exchange (LME) prices.

For the first quarter of 2015, sales figures reached 228,307 metric tonnes, an increase of 1,835 tonnes, versus 226,472 tonnes in Q1 of 2014, while production jumped by 2.4 per cent to 237,774 tonnes versus 232,298 tonnes for the same period in 2014, said a statement.

In addition, Alba closed the first quarter with its value-added sales averaging 64 per cent of total shipments versus 66 per cent in 2014, it added.

Tim Murray, chief executive officer of Alba, said: “Despite challenging market conditions, we are pleased with the higher overall figures for production and sales, ahead of the company’s own forecast for the period, thanks to strong management performance.”

Alba will release its first quarter 2015 financial results to the public on May 7, 2015, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
