Egypt-UAE in deal to develop maritime transport co-operation

CAIRO, January 22, 2015

The Red Sea Port Authority has signed a deal with the Abu Dhabi Ports to boost maritime transportation co-operation between Egypt and the UAE, according to a report.

The deal aims at developing the countries’ maritime transportation system, said the Daily News Egypt report.

The agreement seeks to form new joint companies, which would be focused on maritime transportation and ports developing, it said.

The latest technological systems of ports development, work mechanisation and integration between the port community and logistics will be applied under the deal, said the report.

The deal also includes training for workers in the field of management and technical support for electronic management, it said.

Meanwhile, the deal will also aim at developing maritime legislation, combating marine pollution and encouraging co-operation between national marine companies in both countries, it added.
