Dubai eyes world class marine hub status

DUBAI, September 6, 2014

Dubai Maritime Sector Strategy (MSS) and maritime projects have complemented the 2030 vision to position the emirate as a world class marine hub.

The 'Dubai Maritime Vision 2030' aims to develop, regulate and promote the local maritime industry while at the same time reinforce Dubai’s position as a world-class, premiere international maritime hub, said a top official.

Sultan Bin Sulayem, the chairman of Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation and president of Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority charged with regulating, co-ordinating and supervising all aspects of Dubai’s maritime sector, underlined the significant role played by the MSS in support of 'Dubai Maritime Vision 2030.'

"Dubai Maritime Vision 2030 is positioned as a strategic base to promote Dubai and its highly competitive maritime segment. In fact, Dubai is as equally competent with other leading maritime and logistics centres in the Mena region and the rest of the world," remarked Sultan Bin Sulayem.

He called upon the industry players in the emirate to work closely and intensify their efforts in reaching this vision.

"The local maritime industry is considered to be a key cornerstone in the unified efforts to drive sustainable growth and overall development in the future. It is also a major partner in the move to further enhance Dubai’s regional and international competitiveness," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
