Emal, TRA join forces to improve cyber security

Emirates Aluminium (Emal) and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of UAE have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a close working relationship to combat the growing threat of cyber crime. 

The agreement was signed at a ceremony in Dubai by Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, director general of TRA and Saeed Fadhel Al Mazrooei, president and CEO of Emal. 
 
Under the MoU, Emal will cooperate with aeCERT (TRA’s Emergency Response Computer Centre) to share information in areas of information security and proactive cyber defence. 
 
The MoU allows for the exchange of security research and analysis information between Emal and aeCERT and includes consultation, security awareness, monitoring and response, as well as advisory services by aeCERT for security incidents, including domestic and international cyber security threat awareness. 
 
“Governments and companies around the world face an increasing threat to both their systems and data. Emal is committed to securing its information systems against today’s sophisticated cyber threats, our cooperation with the TRA and the aeCERT will enable us to deal with the evolving cyber threat landscape,” said Saeed Fadhel Al Mazrooei, president and CEO of Emal. 
 
The MoU is in line with the Emal’s objectives to continuously boost its information security capabilities and enhance the overall awareness of global malicious cyber activities and advanced persistent threats.
 
“This cooperation better enables us to cope with today’s advanced persistent threats both to commercial organizations and to critical national infrastructure assets of the United Arab Emirates”, commented Ali Saeed Al Mazrooei, chief information officer of Emal. “aeCERT will provide us with a comprehensive protection scheme against the risks associated with the electronic network, while maintaining the safety of the information infrastructure and data confidentiality” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
