Haya Water aims to raise capacity 10-fold

MUSCAT, September 28, 2016

Oman’s Haya Water, a major sewage treatment plant, plans to raise capacity to 900,000 cu m per day by year 2045 from the current intake capacity of 70,000 cu m, a top official said.

The company will increase the daily capacity intake of the sewage treatment plant in Seeb from 62,000 cu m to 80,000 cu m as well as establishing a new plant, Haya Water chief executive officer Hussein Ali Abdulhussein was quoted as saying in a Times of Oman report.

Abdulhussein said that the current 1,800 km sewage network in Muscat will also go up to 5,600 km in the near future, adding that the water treatment networks will also go up to 814 km from 300 km now.
