GE showcases innovative solutions

Jeddah, April 1, 2009

GE Healthcare, the healthcare business of General Electric, is highlighting several new innovative diagnostic technologies, services and solutions at a key event in Saudi Arbia.

The fifth annual congress of the Radiological Society of Saudi Arabia (RSSA) is being held in Jeddah in cooperation with the European Society of Radiology (ESR) from March 30 to April 2.

With increasing regional trends of lifestyle diseases such as obesity, stress, diabetes and cardiac-related problems, it is vital that healthcare providers, practitioners and the public take a concerted and joint approach to improve the standards of health care, said a statement.

“We are very pleased to be a part of this annual congress and privileged to present to industry experts, institutions and the public the latest GE Healthcare innovations” said Richard di Benedetto, president and CEO of GE Healthcare’s Eastern & Africa Growth Markets (EAGM) region.

“GE Healthcare continues to play an integral role in transforming the healthcare landscape of the Middle East region,” he added.

“If we can redirect healthcare resources into developing better ways to diagnose and treat disease while leveraging information technology throughout this continuum, we could have a much healthier population overall.

“GE is investing $1 billion in R&D annually to deliver tools that will help physicians diagnose disease at the earliest possible stage when there can be many treatment options – this is better medicine and makes economic sense, too.'

GE Healthcare has been established in Saudi Arabia for more than 25 years. With more than 180 talented and skilled professionals based in Saudi Arabia, GE Healthcare has a significant workforce dedicated to supporting Saudi’s healthcare industry.

The company has significantly invested in its strategic country service support centre in Riyadh. This has led to an increase in the speed of customer response time, strongly supported by experienced local service and technical support teams.

The fifth annual congress of the RSSA is being held under the auspices and representation of the Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Health, National Guard and Military Health Services.

The event features presentations by leading Saudi radiologists, workshops, discussion panels, teaching sessions and hands-on training opportunities. – TradeArabia News Service
