An Indian and a Tanzanian education institutions have won the 13th edition of the Unesco-King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the use of information and communication technologies in education.

 

The awardees were announced by the United Nations  Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco). 

 

“Initiatives for Inclusive Education Available for All”, presented by the Central Institute of Educational Technology, which is affiliated with the National Council of Educational Research and Training in India, and “Ubongo: the Largest Digital Classroom in Africa”, presented by Ubongo Foundation in Tanzania, won the 2021 edition of the prize themed “The use of technology to enable inclusive crisis-resilient learning systems”, said a Bahrain News Agecny report.

 

Unesco Director General Audrey Azoulay approved the results in line with the recommendation of the jury. 

 

The winners were selected from 111 nominations submitted by 58 member states at Unesco and 8 non-government organisations, in line with a recommendation by an international jury comprising international educational experts from all over the world.
