UAE science fest sees record attendance

ABU DHABI, UAE, December 14, 2015

The Abu Dhabi Science Festival (ADSF) has ended on a high note which saw record attendance of over 100,000 visitors over 11 days.

Held jointly by the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and the Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee (TDC), the event was greatly appreciated by young and old alike.

Key topics covered at ADSF 2015 included the human body, space and engineering. Additionally, locally based organisations accounted for 40 per cent of the programme offering, adding cultural relevance to the event.

Acting director general Dr Mugheer Khamis Al-Khaili said the festival was in line with ADEC’s strategy to establish an integrated knowledge base by encouraging students to study STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), while enhancing the culture of research, creativity, innovation and 21st century skills.

TDC director general Ahmed Saeed Al Calily said that the continued success of ADSF was testament to the collaborative efforts of government, academia and business leaders to inspire creativity and encourage innovation within the community.

“Together, our aim is to empower the next generation and provide them with the tools to make the UAE one of the most innovative nations in the world,” he added. -TradeArabia News Service
