Paul Symons
Delta Coatings appoints Symons business development head
DUBAI, July 30, 2023
Delta Coatings International, a leading Dubai-based waterproofing specialist and protective coatings system house, has announced the appointment of Paul Symons as director of sales. He will spearhead expansion in Oman, Saudi Arabia and across the North Africa region as well as internationally.
Responsibilities for the new role will include overseeing product launches for a range of new Delta Coatings branded, hand-applied products as well as providing personalised service to existing and new clients in the UAE and around the world.
His appointment comes off the back of a sustained period of growth for Delta Coatings, which has seen the full-service protective coatings specialist establish itself as the leading independent system house for polyurea, polyurethane and polyaspartic-based coatings solutions in the area, while delivering a diverse range of major turnkey waterproofing projects including Umm Al Quwain Desalination Plant, Jebel Ali Sewage Treatment Plant, Meydan Crystal Lagoons, Mohammed Bin Rashid City, and Emaar Beachfront District Cooling Plant.
Growth strategies
Based within the Dubai team, Symon’s remit will see him develop growth strategies and widen Delta Coating’s network across the construction and built environment sectors.
With business development experience spanning both the protective coatings and lining solutions sector, as well as waterproofing, Symons brings strategic planning and local market knowledge to Delta’s Middle East and international divisions. His ability to combine specialist technical knowledge with multicultural insight and professional networking, has seen him build client relationships across the Mena region.
Previous roles have seen Symons gain expertise in customised, high-performance coating and waterproofing solutions for residential and commercial projects throughout the Middle East.
Impressive career
Belvin Marx, head of Delta Coatings in Dubai, commented: “Paul’s impressive career in business development immediately marked him out as a valuable addition to our Mena and international operations, at a time when we are looking to maximise opportunities in a rapidly developing market.
“Paul has exactly the right fit with strategic vision, technical knowledge and industry awareness that we need to increase our work across the Middle East region as well as internationally. His appointment underlines our commitment to talent acquisition and retention, to offer clients a personalised, face-to-face approach, supported by the innovative talent and experience a leading international polyurea system house can offer.”
Symons said: “Nearly 20 years in the coatings industry has really allowed me to fully understand the needs of asset owners, material manufacturers, and construction contractors and applicators while grasping the complexities of their coating and lining needs, as well as the diverse range of turnkey waterproofing solutions for major construction projects. I thrive on providing high performance, durable and effective solutions for all these needs. I am delighted to bring this expertise to Delta Coatings.
Game changer
“Delta Coatings’ new hand-applied polyurea coating product will be a game changer. In the early days, high performance coatings required a substantial initial investment by applicators for an expensive plural component spray reactor machine. However, with Delta’s new line of hand-applied polyurea coatings, customers can now enjoy the same advantages of rapid curing times and robust physical properties by simply using a hand roller to apply coatings.
“These roll-on coatings do not require the addition of reinforcement mesh and can be built up to any thickness in one step with fast curing times of only around thirty minutes. I am looking forward to working with Belvin and his team to spearhead Delta Coatings’ ambitious Middle East and international growth plans,” concluded Symons.
Recently, Delta Coatings announced an ambitious three-year strategic growth plan for the Middle East. The expansion will include opening a new facility in Saudi Arabia and strengthening representation in Oman and Egypt in addition to launching an innovative, new range of self-applied products together with a major scaling up of its turnkey project delivery services covering waterproofing and asset protection solutions for mega and giga-projects.
Established in 2003, Delta Coatings provides world-class polyurea, polyurethane and polyaspartic-based coating solutions to clients across the Mena region, as well as around the world. The organisation specialises in delivering superior waterproofing and protective coating solutions for lagoons and water parks, residential and commercial projects, and large-scale desalination, water reservoir and wastewater treatment plants. Delta also manufactures and supplies customised solutions for corrosion, abrasion, and impact protection.-- TradeArabia News Service
