Oman has announced plans to build a 5.5-m-tall groundwater recharge dam at Al Mudhaibi in the North Sharqiyah region of the sultanate, said a report.

The Al Ayoon dam, which will run 2.86 km long, is set to be constructed with treated soft soil and a border of sand and stones, reported Times of Oman, citing officials from the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources.

On completion, it will be able to hold 734,000 cu m of water, they added.
