$86m water development projects under way in Ajman

The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa) has announced that it is currently working on seven water development projects worth Dh315 million ($86 million) in the northern emirate of Ajman.

These projects include the construction of a 1,000-mm water line in the port, Al Bustan and Karama areas at an expected cost of Dh85 million. About 10 per cent of the project as already been completed and is due to be fully operational next year, reported state news agency Wam.

Fewa is also constructing two concrete reservoirs with capacity of 10 million gallons each in the area of Heilwa in Ajman at an expected cost of Dh40 million.

Around 30 per cent of the project has been completed, said the Wam report, citing officials.

Work is also under way to build a concrete tank with a capacity of two million gallons in the area of Al-Mazraa at a cost of Dh7 million.

Fewa has also embarked on the implementation and construction of 800-mm lines from the Water Distribution Centre in New Al Hamra to Ajman and Umm Al Quwain at a cost of Dh135 million, said the Wam report.

Work is in full swing on the water network being set up in the areas of Hamidiya, Rashidiya and Swan in Ajman at a cost of Dh15 million. Around 30 per cent of the project has been completed and is due for operation in 2019, it added.
