RAK residential project gets Leed for Homes

RAS AL KHAIMAH, November 28, 2016

Al Hamra Real Estate Development (AHRED), the largest real estate developer in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, said it has become the first in the country to be awarded Leed (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Homes status by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) for the company’s Bayti community of upmarket townhouses.

Through the Leed for Homes award the USGBC recognises projects, developers and homebuilders that have demonstrated outstanding leadership and innovation in residential green building.

The Bayti development, totaling 118 townhouses, was credited with meeting the required design build to be energy and resource efficient and healthy for occupants, said the Emirati developer in its statement.

Compared to conventional homes, a green home uses less energy, water and natural resources; creates less waste and also has higher resale value; is smartly located and built with as little impact on the land it sits on as possiblem, it stated.

Bayti (my home in Arabic) is inspired by Mediterranean architecture, with a focus on high quality design and interiors, with all residences designed and built according to Leed criteria.

“From actual construction through to the well-thought-out interiors and the use of sustainable technologies, residents have the potential to save money on energy and water bills, reduce their carbon footprints and environmental impact, protect their health and contribute to a higher resale value,” remarked Benoy Kurien, the general manager of Ahred.

"These elements combined make Bayti a hugely appealing investment proposition to a wide variety of prospective homeowners and investors," he added.

According to him, Bayti offers much more than just a home. "As part of the flagship master planned Al Hamra Village, where 50 per cent of the total area is dedicated to green spaces, we have specifically created a community centred on family living and family values, whether it’s as a primary residence or second home," he added.

Prices for a spacious three-bedroom townhouse start from Dh1.7 million ($462,708), while for a four-bedroom its Dh2.3 million ($626,017) and its Dh3.5 million ($952,635) for six-bedroom detached villas with large corner plots.

All properties are set around three recreational parks and swimming pools, with the championship golf course, 1.5-km-long private white sandy beach, a 220-berth marina and gourmet options a short stroll away.

The gated multi-phased development of 118 spacious three-, four- and six-bedroom residences is aimed at families looking to enjoy all the benefits of a family-centric community, and the best of Ras Al Khaimah’s relaxed lifestyle, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
