Orpic’s LPIC project reaches detailed engineering phase
MUSCAT, October 4, 2016
Oman's Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic) revealed that its $6.5-billion Liwa Plastics Industries Complex (LPIC) project has reached the detailed engineering phase, said a report.
The project’s employees have been deployed at the engineering procurement and construction contractor’s offices in Seoul, Milan, The Hague and New Delhi, added the Oman Daily Observer report.
The company noted that the overall project is on track, and the ground-breaking ceremony has been scheduled on October 10.
LPIC is the largest of the three strategic growth projects undertaken by Orpic to fulfil its vision of building an Omani integrated refining and petrochemical business.
Upon its commissioning in 2020, the project will transform Orpic’s product mix and business model, double the company’s profit, create new business opportunities, generate significant employment opportunities and support the development of a downstream plastics industry in Oman.
