China plans $217m Oman retail projects

Leading Chinese groups are set to sign a key agreement with Omani officials for the establishment of a network of four shopping and commercial hubs in key locations across the sultanate, said a report.
The total investment in the four centres, which will each be named ‘Chinese Commercial Town’, is estimated at RO84 million ($217 million), according to the Oman Observer.
The project, to be developed by China Commercial Town and Guangzhou Dongyong Construction & Engineering Company, will come up in Barka, Suwaiq, Al Buraimi and Raysut.
The agreement will be signed by Saif Al Salhi, representing China Commercial Town, and Guo Yaojta of Guangzhou Dongyong Construction & Engineering Company, tomorrow (August 31), stated the report.
The commercial centres will showcase a wide array of Chinese consumer products, electronics, sports equipment, construction materials, electrical goods and other consumables. In addition, the Barka and Raysut outlets will include restaurants and amenities catering to families, it added.
