Emicool wins Akoya by Damac contract

DUBAI, August 13, 2016

Emirates District Cooling (Emicool), a leading district cooling service provider in the region,  has been awarded a multimillion 25-year concession contract to provide a full-fledged district cooling service system for Akoya by Damac project in DUbai, UAE.

The contract covers chilled water system for all residential buildings within the Akoya development.

Emicool is a joint venture of Dubai Investments and Union Properties.

Emicool will deliver 15,340 tonnes of refrigeration (TR) chilled water from its plant at Hessah Street to the Akoya site through pipes, valve chambers and heat exchangers stations.

The new contract, which will cater to more than 2,500 customers once the project is complete, is set to increase Emicool’s productive capacity by 5 per cent escalating the refrigerating tonnes per hour (RTH) production to 440 million RTH by the end of 2017.

Apart from providing chilled water, Emicool will also supply the British Thermal Unit (BTU) meters to the Akoya buildings to monitor and measure the energy usage and carry out billing services once the buildings are occupied.

The Akoya project will provide a major push to Emicool’s planned capacity expansion to over 500,000 TR by 2020. The company’s roadmap in the coming years includes expansion of operations to Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Inspired by the quintessential Beverly Hills lifestyle, Akoya by Damac spans 42 million sq ft in Dubai and is home to mansions, villas, apartments, hotels and resorts and a golf club.

For the Akoya by Damac project, Emicool has awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Al Nasr Contracting for Dh50 million ($13.6 million)  to design and build the pipeline network and valve chambers. - TradeArabia News Service
