Summit to discuss Qatar project delivery challenges

DOHA, January 13, 2016

Qatar's Public Works Authority (Ashghal) is set to play a key role at the 13th edition of Qatar Projects Conference which will run from March 15 to 16 in Doha.

The upcoming summit will see leading government representatives, key project owners, developers, consultants and financiers address the evolving challenges of Qatar’s project delivery market and highlight its future project opportunities, strategic priorities and masterplans.

The event is being organised by Meed under the patronage of Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani, Minister of Economy and Commerce.

A recent update on existing projects of Ashghal will be shared by Nasser bin Ali Al Mawlawi, the president of Ashghal, on the opening day of the event to be held at the St Regis Hotel.

The Public Works Authority is already handling 11 expressway projects currently under way in Doha worth more than QR18 billion ($4.9 billion) along with 14 new developments, according to its annual report.

More than 32 expressway projects are expected to be completed in the next five to seven years that include 240 major interchanges and 980 km of new roads, said the event organisers.

While the initial hype around projects associated with the execution of the World Cup has reduced over time, Qatar remains in the top three project markets in the Middle East and is less reliant on an uncertain oil price, they added.-TradeArabia News Service
