New housing units for low-income citizens coming up across Egypt.

Egypt approves $1bn housing projects

CAIRO, September 29, 2015

A total of 550 housing projects worth E£9 billion ($1.14 billion) have won approval from New Urban Communities Authority (Nuca) for construction across Egypt in the first eight months, said a report.

These include a 24-building unit in Obour City and a 22-building project covering 440 housing units, reported the Daily News Egypt, citing a top Nuca official.

The most important project to get approval from Nuca during the period has been the social housing units for low-income citizens.

Fahmy said the authority had assigned six buildings that would include 144 housing units in the social housing project in New Borg Al-Arab area outside Alexandria. This is in addition to the 220 housing units that will be built in 11 buildings in Akhmim in Sohag governorate, said the report.

In addition to this, 10 more buildings will be constructed as part of the Ebni Betak social housing project in 6th of October City, four of which are already under construction.

These 10 buildings form part of the 43 social housing buildings that will be constructed in 6th of October City, it added.
