UAE claims 31pc of GCC interior design market

DUBAI, June 10, 2015

The UAE has acquired 31 per cent share of the $7.35 billion interior design market in GCC, recent statistics show.

Tareq Skaik, head of Design Department in Algedra Interior Design Engineering Services said that industrial, commercial and financial service organizations spending on interior design was estimated around 25 per cent of the total value of the project.

UAE companies spend the range from Dh200 million ($54.4 million) to Dh300 million ($81.6 million) annually on interior design.

Skaik added that the interest in design has become a priority for doing business, since design reflects the company's identity.

“Our experience with our clients produced many ideas and proposals that are built by implementation of design that reflects company's identity and constitute impression of customers on its work mechanism,” Skaik said.

He pointed out that interior design varies in companies according to the nature of the company’s business and vision.  In the meantime design lines are trending in private enterprises to elite luxury, he added.

Financial institutions such as banks, insurance companies are the most prominent sectors spending on design, he added, noting that the organisations focus more on lighting and modern decorations featuring geometric shapes. – TradeArabia News Service
