Sudan eyes Arab funding for real estate projects

CAIRO, May 25, 2015

Sudan's real estate sector has attracted investments worth $30 billion from the region and is now looking for more funding from Arab business groups in the construction projects, said a report.

"We will be presenting a paper on the investment opportunities and the situation of the real estate sector in Sudan and hope to sign MoUs for real estate projects," Malik Dongula, the Sudanese Constructors Association’s chairman, was quoted as saying by the Daily News Egypt.

Dongula is in Cairo, Egypt, to take part in the Arab Construction and Projects Forum conference, which opened yesterday (May 24).

The paper will highlight the proposals for road construction on BOT system, besides the available privileges granted by the government for real estate investors, he stated.

Dongula said Arab Contractors Company had some investments in Sudan earlier, but exited the market due to the plunge in the Sudanese pound.

"We are currently trying to solve some business problems that exists in the country and also discuss further investment opportunities in Sudan with our Arab partners, he added.
