ABC Bank, Arab Bank and GPIC back banking sector centenary

MANAMA, June 23, 2019

ABC Bank, Arab Bank and Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) will sponsor the 100th anniversary celebration of Bahrain’s Banking Sector.

The event will be held under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa on December 11, Bahrain Association of Banks (BAB) announced.

BAB expressed its thanks and appreciation to ABC Bank, Arab Bank and GPIC for their support to the celebration, which will highlight the kingdom’s banking sector’s key role in the sustainable economic development.

The banking sector occupies the second position, after oil, in the sectors that contribute to the GDP, accounting for a share of more than 16% of the GDP.

BAB CEO Dr Waheed Al Qassim stressed that the leading national institutions and companies’ support to BAB will help the association move forward in achieving the objectives of the celebration.

BAB confirmed ABC Bank’s gold sponsorship of the 100th anniversary of the Banking Sector and Arab Bank’s Sliver sponsorship of the celebration.

“This support reflects the bank's strong commitment to supporting the development of the banking sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the national economy as a whole. Arab Bank is one of the first banks in the kingdom, within the framework of the bank's successful and extended for nearly nine decades; Arab Bank today has one of the largest international Arab banking networks, with more than 600 branches across five continents,” said regional managing director Bahrain Arab Bank Mohammed Assim.

GPIC has supported the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the banking sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain as a bronze sponsor of this event.

Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery, GPIC president, said: "This sponsorship comes as part of GPIC's support for the national economy in the Kingdom of Bahrain as a national company and is associated with an active and fundamental partnership with the banking sector and other economic sectors in supporting the national development process.”

“The celebration of the centennial of the banking sector in Bahrain represents a good opportunity to promote investment in the Kingdom and benefit not only Bahraini financial and banking institutions, but also all economic, industrial, service and logistic companies and other companies working to support the national economy in the Kingdom of Bahrain,” added Dr Jawahery. – TradeArabia News Service
