Major achievements in the regional insurance industry were recognised at an awards ceremony held last night on the sidelines of the 10th anniversary special edition of the Middle East Insurance Forum (MEIF 2014).

The event was held at the Gulf Hotel in Bahrain.

The annual MEIF Awards, which are among the most prestigious in the region, are designed to recognise individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions to the advancement of the Middle East insurance industry.

Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Baker, executive director of Financial Institutions Supervision at the Central Bank of Bahrain, presented the awards.

AXA Insurance (Gulf) won the 2014 MEIF Institutional Excellence Award from a short-list of nominees through a unique industry-based voting system. The award recognises a leading institution that has demonstrated outstanding achievements and institutional excellence in major performance areas.

Jerome Droesch, CEO of AXA Gulf and Middle East Region, received the award.

The MEIF 2014 Industry Leadership Award – an award which recognizes outstanding contributions made by an individual towards the overall development of the regional insurance industry and significantly contributing towards shaping the future of the regional insurance industry - was presented to Abdullathif Abdulrahim Janahi, a pioneer in Islamic banking and insurance. – TradeArabia News Service
