Novotel Dubai Al Barsha plans grey water recycling

DUBAI, June 6, 2023

Novotel Dubai Al Barsha will be starting an ethical Grey Water recycling initiative, in which wastewater from sources such as sinks and showers is collected and treated before being reused for non-potable purposes.

The implementation comes in line with World Environment Day on June 5.

Cluster General Manager of Novotel Dubai Al Barsha Souffian Zaeraoui said: “As we celebrate World Environment Day, we're thrilled to share our exciting progress towards a greener approach at Novotel Dubai Al Barsha. Our Grey Water recycling initiative and plastic-free commitment are just the tips of the iceberg of our sustainable journey. We can't wait to show our guests what else we have in store and how we're dedicated to making a positive impact on the environment.”

Novotel Dubai Al Barsha will demonstrate its commitment to protecting the environment and provide a variety of benefits for its guests via the installation of the greywater system, such benefits include water conservation, reduced dependence on freshwater resources, and improved water quality. Another eco-proof point in which the hotel paved the way for others of its kind in the UAE, was the introduction of zero single-use plastic across the entire hotel, launched in 2022.

One of the other key initiatives the property is currently implementing is Winnow, a cutting-edge technology that helps to minimize food wastage, thereby contributing to a more sustainable future. In addition, the hotel has undertaken energy conservation initiatives by replacing all lights and bulbs with LED technology. This transition significantly reduces energy consumption and helps mitigate the environmental impact associated with traditional lighting methods.

Novotel Dubai Al Barsha showcases its eco-conscious approach through various sustainable amenities available in all rooms and suites, such as eco-certified soaps, shower gels, and shampoos. Not to mention that the hotel ensures environmental responsibility by using environmentally friendly cleaning products for room preparation. It actively measures and monitors its greenhouse gas emissions to reduce its carbon footprint and additionally, the hotel has successfully implemented a water bottling plant, eliminating the need for single-use plastic bottles in rooms, dining venues, and meeting rooms.

Lastly, as part of its commitment to green practices, Novotel Dubai Al Barsha has incorporated a Green Wall on its façade, making it easily recognizable and highlighting the hotel's dedication to environmental sustainability.
