Landmark founder Micky Jagtiani dies aged 70

Dubai-based billionaire businessman Mukesh Wadhumal "Micky" Jagtiani, Founder and Chairman of Landmark Group, died today aged 70.
"It is with great sadness that we announce that our Founder and Chairman, Mukesh “Micky” Jagtiani, has passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family," said a Landmark statement.
Micky Jagtiani leaves behind a formidable legacy of a leading family-owned business conglomerate in the GCC region and beyond, that he founded and managed for several decades.
"Renowned for his unwavering customer-centric approach and deep market understanding, Micky was the steering force which made Landmark Group and its brands become a household name in the community. He will always be fondly remembered for his inspiring leadership and even more so, for his humility and genuine concern towards all the lives he touched," the statement said.
Founded in 1973 in Bahrain, Landmark Group has successfully grown into one of the largest retail organisation in the Gulf region.
Over the years, the Landmark Group has expanded into fashion, electronics, furniture and budget hotels in Middle East and Southeast Asia. It employs around 45,000 people and has more than 1,000 stores across the Middle East and India.
In 2008, Jagtiani bought a 6% stake in the UK high-street retailer Debenhams. In May 2023, his estimated net worth was $5.2 billion, according to Forbes.
