Huffington Post launches Arabic edition

NEW YORK / LONDON, July 28, 2015

The Huffington Post Media Group and Integral Media Strategies have launched an Arabic-language edition of The Huffington Post (huffpostarabi.com), a leading global source of breaking news, opinion, entertainment and community.

HuffPost Arabi is The Huffington Post’s 14th site in the brand’s expanding global presence.

HuffPost Arabi combines The Huffington Post’s award-winning news platform, with Integral Media Strategies’ regional expertise and thriving network of on-the-ground journalists, who will contribute editorial content from across the Arab world.

“I’m thrilled about the launch of HuffPost Arabi, and the timing couldn’t be better. So much coverage of the Middle East is from the outside looking in, and the voices of the people most affected by what’s happening are frequently unheard,” said Arianna Huffington, co-founder, president and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post.

“And I'm delighted to be partnering with Wadah Khanfar as we create an independent news source and platform that captures the complexity of the Arabic world, its issues and its people. Together, we’ll be showing a full picture of the region, relentlessly reporting on all the Arabic world’s issues and challenges but also on the solutions, innovation and compassion that are all too often left out of the narrative."

The new site is a first-of-its-kind online news destination for the 300+ million people in the Arab world and the wider Arabic speaking audience, offering a unique combination of original reporting by independent journalists and a blog platform for people within the region to express their thoughts and opinions.

“The Arab World continues to dominate the news, so it is important our region has an accessible space where voices and perspectives can be shared, said Wadah Khanfar, CEO of Integral Media Strategies.

"HuffPost Arabi will provide a new and exciting online platform for Arab bloggers, content creators and thought leaders to engage in constructive debate about the issues impacting our communities and our daily lives.”

The editorial team includes a number of well-known regional editors and journalists, representing a diversity of viewpoints, lead by editor-in-chief Anas Fouda.

The large and rapidly growing Arabic youth is a key demographic.  In order to cater to their broad range of interests, HuffPost Arabi will deliver comprehensive news and political coverage and also content across multiple verticals including culture, lifestyle, women’s issues, health, wellness and food. – TradeArabia News Service
