ONYX Hospitality showcases expansion plans at WTM London

ONYX Hospitality Group, a leading Thai hospitality management company, is set to present its growth strategy and plan to expand portfolio at the World Travel Market (WTM) London, running from November 5 to 7 at ExCel London.

The group, which manages hotels, resorts, and serviced apartments, aims to attract more leisure travellers through its diverse offerings.

ONYX currently oversees 46 properties under brands such as Amari, OZO, Shama, and Oriental Residence. As part of its growth goals, ONYX plans to manage over 50 properties by 2025 and expand to 70 by 2028.

Two new openings are on the horizon: Amari Colombo, Sri Lanka, set to open in late 2024, and Amari Vientiane, Laos, expected in early 2025. These additions reinforce ONYX's presence in southeast Asia.

The company is also expanding in Malaysia with properties like Shama Medini and OZO Medini. Other target markets include Thailand, China, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka. The UK remains a priority market, especially with British Airways’ upcoming direct flights from London to Bangkok in April 2025.

At WTM, ONYX celebrates Oriental Residence Bangkok joining the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection and its recent MICHELIN Key award. These honours reflect the property’s high standards in hospitality.

Chief Executive Officer Yuthachai Charanachitta expressed excitement about the group’s expansion, stating, "The UK is a key market, and we are dedicated to offering top-tier leisure and luxury experiences."

Additionally, the Shama brand has seen a 200% increase in Thailand and maintains a strong presence in Hong Kong’s serviced apartment sector.

Shama's new campaign, “Freedom to Explore” and “Live Your Blended Life at Shama”, embodies a lifestyle approach for modern travellers, focusing on a seamless balance of work, leisure, and exploration.
