Leading global architects to design Azizi's opera house project

UAE-based Azizi Developments has announced that it has signed up top architecture firms - Singapore's SAA Architects, Chinese group MAD and London-based Zaha Hadid Architects - to compete in designing an innovative concept for its ambitious opera house project coming up within its mixed-use development,  Azizi Venice, in Dubai South.
 
A major player, SAA Architects is known for its innovative and sustainable design solutions across residential, commercial, and institutional projects, while MAD Architects, founded by Ma Yansong in Beijing, has futuristic and organic designs that blend nature with urban environments, with notable works like Canada’s Absolute Towers and the Harbin Opera House in China. 
 
Zaha Hadid Architects is celebrated globally for its avant-garde and fluid architectural style, with iconic projects such as the London Aquatics Centre, the Guangzhou Opera House, and the Heydar Aliyev Center in Azerbaijan.
 
On the key partnership, CEO Farhad Azizi said: "We are delighted to be working with a trio of elite architectural firms for our upcoming opera house in Azizi Venice. SAA Architects, MAD Architects, and Zaha Hadid Architects each bring their unique expertise and visionary design approaches to this prestigious project."
 
"Azizi Opera will become one of the most notable venues for cultural and community events in Dubai, setting a new standard for architectural excellence in the region. Located at the heart of the boulevard and built to the highest, most contemporary standards in design and architecture, Azizi Opera will become one of the most notable venues for high-caliber events in the emirate.
 
A prime tourist attraction and high-end local hotspot, Azizi Venice is planned to welcome over 30,000 visitors on a daily basis. 
 
The opulent community will have its very own two Azizi-owned and operated five-star hotels at the entrances of the community, as well as one boutique hotel located on an island in the middle of the lagoon. 
 
A large number of underground parking spaces will be constructed to grant tens of thousands of daily visitors easy access to Azizi Boulevard and Azizi Opera.  
 
On completion, Azizi Venice will boast more than 30,000 residential units across 100 apartment complexes, and over 400 luxury villas and mansions. 
 
Azizi Developments is taking on the role of master developer, in charge of constructing the buildings, roads, and all the infrastructure.
 
At the heart of Azizi Venice lies its luxurious pedestrian-friendly boulevard, which will be open-air in the winter and glass-covered in the summer to ensure a temperature-controlled space with year-round activity and visitors, said the top official. 
 
Lined with three-storey buildings planned to host the world’s top retailers and brands, nightlife, and entertainment options, as well as eateries that represent a vast number of countries from across the world, Azizi Boulevard will represent a new and unique point of interest on Dubai’s map of outstanding sights, he added.-TradeArabia News Service

SEC receives bids for two 380kV substations, OHTL projects

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has announced that it has received bids from leading utility majors for the construction of two 380kV substations at Afif city in central Saudi Arabia in the Najd region.
 
These substations - Afif PV 1 and Afif PV 2 - are being set up as part of upcoming Renewable Energy Projects across Saudi Arabia, said SEC in a statement.
 
For the Afif 1 380kV BSP project, Al Gihaz Contracting Company emerged as the lowest bidder with an amount of SAR960 million ($256 million), while for Afif 2 380kV BSP, Al Babtain Contracting Company was the lowest bidder with SAR1.17 billion ($312 million).
 
On the 380KV OHTL projects, SEC said Saudi-based Al Sharif Group and its Indian joint venture partner KEC have emerged lowest bidders for two projects - the OHTL from BSP Afif PV-2 upto Ar Rass PV BSP and from Mowaih PV BSP to Afif PV2 - with a bid amount of SAR560.5 million and SAR560.4 million, respectively.
 
For the contract for the construction of the 380kV OHTL from Afif PV-1 BSP to the existing network, the lowest bidder was Saudi Services for Electro Mechanic with an amount of SAR140 million.

Saudi Arabia replaces over 133,000 lighting units at Makkah

Saudi Arabia's General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has completed the replacement of 133,459 LED lighting units in the Prophet’s Mosque and its facilities, ensuring compliance with top international standards, reported SPA.
 
The initiative standardised lighting colours, eliminating previous inconsistencies in the illumination of the minarets, domes, and roof, it stated.
 
The new lighting system enhances the visual identity of the Prophet’s Mosque, accentuating its architectural beauty and improving the nightscape. 
 
With a colour temperature of 4000K, the lighting creates a calm and reassuring atmosphere, providing a comfortable and safe environment for worshippers and visitors, stated the SPA report.
 
The authority has implemented advanced smart lighting systems that regulate light distribution, intensity, and color temperature based on specific needs, it added.
