Dewa completes commissioning of third reservoir in 2024

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has announced that it has commissioned a reservoir with a capacity of 30 million imperial gallons (MIG) of desalinated water in Hatta.

Dewa said this was the third water reservoir being commissioned by the utility major for FY 2024.

In June, it had commissioned the AED287.8 million ($78.3 million) Enkhali reservoir with a storage capacity of 120 (MIG) of desalinated water and the very next month it commissioned the AED157.4 million ($42.8 million) Lusaily project which has a storage capacity of 60MIG.

On top of all this, Dewa said it is building a 120 MIG reservoir in Hassyan region of Dubai.

Once these projects are fully operational, the storage capacity will increase to 1,121 MIG in the first quarter of 2025.

On the Hatta reservoir project, Dewa said it was being set up at a total cost of about AED86 million ($23.4 million).

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the MD and CEO of Dewa, said: "The reservoir project in Hatta supports the Comprehensive Development Plan for Hatta to increase water flow, raise the volume of the emirate’s water reserves to meet growing demand and increase the efficiency and reliability of water networks to support the sustainable development of Dubai."

As part of the project, supporting buildings will be constructed along with extending entrance and exit pipes.-TradeArabia News Service
