ABU DHABI, November 21, 2016

The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi, took a myriad of accolades at the well-renowned World Golf Awards and the International Culinary Olympics 2016.

The golfing address scooped three of the top golf awards, winning World’s Best Golf Hotel in the World, Best Golf Resort in Abu Dhabi and Best Golf Resort in UAE, at the World Golf Awards, held in Algarve, Portugal, this week. Part of the international edition of the World Travel Awards, the World Golf Awards celebrates and rewards excellence in golf tourism, world class courses, and golfing destinations.

Since its opening in 2011, The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort holds the title for Abu Dhabi’s Leading Beach Resort and 2016 marks its fifth-consecutive win at the World Travel Awards – Middle East, held in Dubai in late October. Soaring high in its recreational leisure offerings, the stunning resort’s Iridium Spa recently won an award for Abu Dhabi’s Best Resort Spa at the World Spa Awards, held in Sardinia, Italy.

The grand retreat continues to lead the region with its culinary experiences by representing the UAE at the 2016 International Culinary Olympics, held in Weimer, Germany, in late October. From the resort’s Mediterranean influenced all-day dinning outlet, Olea, sous chef Danushka Karunaratne and junior sous chef Thamara Kumari were awarded two Gold medals, two Bronze medals, and one Silver medal, for their excellent culinary presentation, techniques, and taste, in the ‘Culinary Artist’ and ‘Five-Course Platting and Tapas’ categories.

Commenting on the success, hotel manager Marwan Fadel said: “The St. Regis Saadiyat family is focused on staying true to our promise of offering bespoke luxury and uncompromising service, and these awards are a testament to our on-going passion and dedication in delivering world-class hospitality. Having an onsite championship course designed by renowned professional golfer Gary Player, globally recognised chefs, and unparalleled leisure offerings, makes the resort a pioneering address in today’s competitive hospitality landscape.”

Located on the pristine white natural beaches of Saadiyat, a short 10-minute drive from the city center and a 20-minute drive from Abu Dhabi International Airport, the resort is a preferred destination among Middle Eastern affluent holiday makers. Guests can choose from one of the resort’s 377 elegant guest rooms and suites to include the lavishly-appointed two-story Royal Suite, that features private terraces with expansive views of the Arabian Gulf.

The resort is a hotspot for UAE residents with seven distinctive culinary venues, to include the signature restaurant - 55&5th, The Grill; one of Abu Dhabi’s largest spa – Iridium Spa; a 3,500sqm state-of-the-art gym - The St. Regis Athletic Club; and a large banqueting facility with a 3,000sqm ballroom – The Regal Ballroom. - TradeArabia News Service
