Gulf Air, TransSys partner to accelerate digital transformation

MANAMA, May 18, 2016

Bahrain national carrier Gulf Air and TransSys Solutions have partnered to enhance Oracle E-Business Suite capabilities and features to utilise latest technologies such as mobility and interface to Hybrid Cloud.

The agreement was signed by Dr Jassim Haji, director information technology, Gulf Air and Prabu Balasubramanyan, executive director, TransSys Solutions.

As part of Gulf Air’s digital transformation strategy, Gulf Air is complementing its private cloud with integration with the other providers forming their hybrid cloud. This journey will allow Gulf Air to deploy a hybrid cloud architecture while driving performance and productivity, thereby gaining elasticity in their computing capacity and further optimizing their IT spend by moving towards an Opex model. Gulf Air has adopted an approach wherein both Public and Private clouds would coexist in their IT environment, which over a period of time would evolve into a Hybrid cloud.

“Gulf Air has been one of the early adopters of technology. We have embarked on our digital transformation journey by adopting the hybrid cloud. We are happy to partner with TransSys given their proven knowledge, expertise and years of experience of working with the Aviation industry. We are confident they will be a strong partner in our digital transformation strategy,” said Haji.

By adopting mobility and a hybrid cloud, Gulf Air would derive several benefits such as lowering their upfront capital costs; speed and agility to rapidly deploy new the IT environments; flexibility to access information anytime from anywhere; scalability to grow as the business grows; automated management, security, monitoring, patching and upgrade services; reduced carbon footprint; globalised workforce at reduced costs, etc.

“We are happy to partner with Gulf Air on their digitisation journey. This partnership further strengthens our presence in the aviation sector and our pursuit to expand our service offering globally. We have successfully leveraged our experience and expertise of having worked with over 15 airlines,” added Balasubramanyan. - TradeArabia News Service
