Lausanne looking to become a major tourist destination for the GCC market

Laussane Tourism brands GCC as key market

LAUSANNE, May 16, 2016

Switzerland's Lausanne Tourism is boosting its efforts to attract more travellers from the GCC with exciting packages and plans to promote the city.

Lausanne regards the GCC region as an important market, having recorded a 25 per cent increase in the number of tourists from the region last year.

Walter Loser, project manager of the GCC market, said: “Lausanne Tourism is really excited with the developments that have contributed to the recognition of the city as a major tourist destination. It gives us immense pleasure to take the beauty and historic culture of Lausanne global. The growth of the number of tourists that visit the city validates our belief that Lausanne has the potential to become a primary European tourist destination.”

Emiratis can now experience the beauty of Lausanne from the newly opened Swiss hotel, The Royal Savoy. The historic building follows a ‘grand chateau look’ and is situated right in the middle of the city. Guests can also enjoy dishes crafted by the famed Michelin starred chef Marc Haeberlin.

To further the Lausanne experience, Lausanne Tourism has introduced Chaplin’s World. The studio honours the timeless work of Charlie Chaplin, popular comic actor and filmmaker. Chaplin’s World will encompass the legend’s family manor, themed restaurants, a studio and park which is built across 60,000-sq-m of scenic land. The makers have created a unique experience using cinematography, multimedia and specially designed interiors that will leave guests in wonder.

The star attraction however, is the Lake Geneva. Apart from the unrivalled beauty of the lake, tourists can embark on a zip line adventure, go for a hot air balloon ride, and spend the day paddle boarding, jet skiing and boating. During winter, guests can go skiing, sledding and snowshoe hiking. For visitors who prefer a more calm experience, the lake has a number of spas which offers a multitude of treatments and services that will bring relaxation and contentment.

“We believe that the new developments will contribute to the growth of Lausanne as a tourist destination. It will increase its recognition on a global scale. 2016 is an important year for us considering we have a variety of huge projects that are in the making. This is truly an exciting time for the people of Lausanne as we prepare to welcome our guests in the summer season and make them feel at home,” Walter said. - TradeArabia News Service
