Iran to launch South Pars phases by Sept
TEHRAN, August 17, 2015
Iran is set to launch the 15th and 16th phase of its South Pars Gas Field by the end of September, according to a report.
Both the phases are in the final stages of development, said the Iran Daily report.
The country's overall production of sweet gas will increase 50 million cu m per day once the phases become operational, Reza Forouzesh, managing director of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) and the project director of the two phases, was quoted as saying.
The two phases currently pump over 36 mcm of natural gas per day into Iran's national trunk-lines, he said.
South Pars, divided into 29 development phases, contains 40 trillion cu m of natural gas and covers an area of 9,700 sq km, of which 3,700 sq km lie in Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 sq km are situated in Qatar's territorial waters, the report added.
