Top energy sector leaders to convene at Adipec

ABU DHABI, November 6, 2014

International leaders from the energy sector are set to attend the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (Adipec) 2014, with major business agreements taking place during the acclaimed energy event, according to organisers.

The event will run from November 10 to 13 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec), marking 30 years of service to the oil and gas industry across the world.

Hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), organised by dmg events, and supported by the UAE Ministry of Energy and the Abu Dhabi Chamber, the theme of this year’s event will be “Challenges and Opportunities for the Next 30 Years”.

Decision makers from around the world will take part in the event, making it an ideal platform for exchanging ideas and reaching agreements that address the ever-growing global demand for energy, said a statement.

Ali Khalifa Al Shamsi, Adipec 2014 chairman, and strategy and coordination director at Adnoc, said: “Since 1984, Adipec has been known as a platform for industry stakeholders to network, collaborate and learn from one another. As we examine the challenges of the next 30 years, such opportunities become even more vital to our industry.

“This year, the Adnoc stand at Adipec will have a full programme of activities, including interactive panels and technology presentations. In addition to video films, which provide an overview of our various projects, there are new interactive technologies which visitors to the Adnoc stand can use to bring our work in the oilfields to life.

“The Adnoc stand will feature daily agreements and signings as we work with our industry partners to ensure that we meet the growing global energy demand while building efficiency and sustainability in all our practices.”

The technology will be used to enhance the Adipec experience, with a dedicated smartphone application, now available for download, and onsite interactive screens, which will help attendees keep track of all the activities taking place during the world-class energy event.

Connecting the world of oil and gas, the event is expected to be a launching pad for business agreements in the energy sector. The industry-setting event is set to attract more than 1,800 exhibitors, 6,500 delegates, and 400 speakers, breaking last year’s records in all aspects.

More than 60,000 oil and gas professionals are set to attend, of which 53 per cent have joint or direct purchasing authority.

The leading speakers at its Conference Programme will include representatives from Saudi Aramco, Royal Dutch Shell, GE Oil & Gas, and BP. The two Executive Plenary Sessions in the conference will tackle ‘Innovation and Leadership’, and ‘Technology and Sustainability,’ highlighting the pivotal role that talent, research and development play in enhancing energy production around the world.

Meanwhile, 16 national oil companies (NOCs) and 17 international oil companies (IOCs) have confirmed their presence at Adipec this year, the highest NOC and IOC participation in the event’s history.

The event will feature 20 international pavilions, a 25 per cent increase from last year, with the participation of the world’s major oil producers, including the US, China, Canada, and Mexico.

The new countries being represented in Adipec’s international pavilions this year will be Malaysia, India, Nigeria, Indonesia and Taiwan, further cementing the event as a global platform for learning best practice.

Ali Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, managing director of the Adnec, highlighted ADIPEC’s prominent role in further establishing Abu Dhabi as a global knowledge sharing hub for leaders in the oil and gas industry.

Christopher Hudson, senior vice president, Energy at dmg events, said: “With increasing energy consumption, it is essential that the world’s decision makers address the growing need for energy and develop strategies for securing sustainable resources for the future.

“Adipec 2014 continues to drive thought-leadership in the energy sector by bringing together influential leaders, experts, and professionals under one roof.”

The special features of the event will include the Adipec Awards, which will celebrate innovation and recognise commitment to excellence in the energy field. The winners will be announced during a gala dinner at Emirates Palace on the first day of the show.

Young Adipec continues to motivate the next generation of engineers with a series of activities, including site visits and industry-related competitions and demonstrations, designed to encourage students to follow a career path in the energy sector.

The Young Adipec Edutainment Zone will have a dedicated area for the Petroleum Institute, where students can carry out live experiments and discuss course options.

A distinguished private business club for the most influential leaders in the oil and gas industry, the Middle East Petroleum Club (MEPC) will provide top-level professionals with a platform to connect with peers and colleagues.

Meanwhile, the Adipec 2014 VIP Programme, which will be hosted in a purpose-built theatre, will be a series of exclusive briefings dedicated to MEPC members and senior industry representatives that look at some of the impending issues in the sector. Influential leaders will be briefed on boosting oil production, two major expansion projects in the UAE, and innovation in technology through industry collaboration.

The programme will also include the highly anticipated conclusion of the Women in Industry series, a range of Adipec 2014 events and initiatives dedicated to women in the energy sector. - TradeArabia News Service
